Incorporating Green Elements into Everyday Life through Upcycling
“BEA Upcycles” Commences

Hong Kong, 23rd August, 2022 – The Bank of East Asia, Limited (“BEA” or the “Bank”) has joined hands with St. James’ Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Centre (“UPCC”) to present “BEA Upcycles”, an exhibition with activities to promote environmental protection at Cityplaza North which will run until 28th August.

Mr Adrian Li, the Bank’s Co-Chief Executive said, “BEA is committed to promoting sustainability and fostering social inclusion, and we are delighted to organise “BEA Upcycles” alongside St. James’ Settlement. Through these creative exhibits and activities, we hope to inspire the public to adopt a green lifestyle.”

Ms Josephine Lee, Chief Executive Officer of St. James’ Settlement said, “We are grateful for BEA’s support towards this event. The persons with disabilities who take part as workshop instructors and environmental ambassadors not only showcase their capabilities to the public, but also enhance their self-confidence through these activities. Meanwhile, the public can experience the joy of upcycling and how environmental awareness can be incorporated into daily life for a sustainable and diversified society.”

The “BEA Upcycles” event provides a variety of upcycling experiences for the public. Some upcycled arts co-created by persons with disabilities and BEA volunteers are on display at the venue while other upcycled products are for sale, with proceeds going to charity. Other activities include workshops, a weaving experience and a VR game. Members of the public can also design their own message cards from typhoon-felled trees. About St. James’ Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Centre

St. James’ Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Centre aims at promoting environmental protection and eco-lifestyle by creating upcycling products through encouraging corporations and organizations to donate used or leftover materials. Local designers are invited to make use of those wastes for designing new products and getting persons with disabilities to involve in producing upcycled products. The Centre also arouses public awareness of green living through upcycling workshops, exhibitions and other events and activities.
