2018 ~ Begin with the End in Mind
Led by our former CEO, together with the effort of all colleagues, 2017 has been a fruitful year to the Settlement. Apart from the launching of several new projects, our work has gained tremendous support and recognition. To name a few, our VIVA Blue House Project received the Award of Excellence in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation, while the Jockey Club Upcycling Centre is the Gold Award Winner (Thematic Section) of 2017 Best Practice Awards in Social Welfare organised by HKCSS.
Starting from 2018, the torch is passed to us. Following the footsteps of our predecessors, I sincerely hope that our services will be enhanced to tailor the needs of service users. Moreover, this is an important year as the Settlement will formulate our strategic plan for the coming three years. Facing the challenges of our society, such as aging population, widening disparity between the rich and the poor, we need to evaluate our services comprehensively, in order to forecast future needs and devise strategies proactively. To begin with the end in mind, our strategic plan must be clearly defined, effective with measurable outcomes.
To achieve the above, every single colleague’s contribution is vital in actualizing our core values – ‘passion’, ‘autonomy’, ‘innovation’ and ‘social justice’. Whenever we serve faithfully, we will win the support of our donors, partners, volunteers, service users as well as the community as a whole.
To share with you a very good reminder from our priest –
Go forth into the world in peace; be of good courage; hold fast that which is good; render to no one evil for evil; strengthen the fainthearted; support the weak; help the afflicted; honor everyone; love and serve the Lord, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit...
In the new year, let us join together and walk with courage!
